Using the search box on Home page or under Menu. Enter partial names for the best results (type part of the registered name, not the whole thing). Make sure the spelling is correct—misspellings may create duplicates. Do not include titles (FC, HRCH, etc.), colors (BLK, YLW), or registration numbers. Example: Good search: Candlewoods Man Avoid: FC Candlewoods Man MH Avoid: SS123401 Avoid: HRCH Cross Creek MH12 (BLK)

You must be a registered user and logged in to add or edit dogs.

Step 1: Search for your dog using the full, correct registered name ( Do not include titles, colors, or registration numbers).

Step 2: - If your dog is already in the system, you’ll be taken to their pedigree page.
- If your dog is not found, you’ll see an option to add them (Green Button).

Step 3: Once your dog is added, click Edit Dog on their pedigree page to add titles, health information, and other details.

Only dogs that are edit locked to your account appear under My Dogs.

To see your dog in that list, you need to request an edit lock for that dog. Once approved, the dog will show under My Dogs and you’ll be able to update their information.

See How do I edit lock a dog? for step-by-step instructions.

The system builds pedigrees using the dog's sire (father) and dam (mother).

Step 1: Search for and open the dog’s pedigree page.

Step 2: Click the Edit Parents button (or use Add Parent within the pedigree).

Step 3: Enter the parent’s registered name ( Do not include titles, colors, or registration numbers). Partial name searches work best if the parent is already in the system.

Step 4: Select the correct dog if it appears, or add them if not found.

Step 5: After adding parents, visit their pedigree pages to enter more information if needed (titles, health, etc.).

Continue adding parents until the pedigree is complete.

Test Litter - create a test breeding that is only viewable to you. Test breedings tobetween two dogs.

Real Litter - a current or future litter that is viewable by anyone.

You must be a registered user and logged in to add real or test litters.

  1. Go to My Litters. Scroll down toward the bottom of the page.
  2. Enter the litter name. This is the name people will see on the Litter Search page.
  3. Choose Real Litter or Test Litter from drop down., then click Submit.
  4. Enter the sire and dam. The sire and dam must already be in the system, and their at least hip clearances must be entered (for real litters to be created).

Searching for sire and dam:

  • Do not include titles (FC, HRCH, etc.). Use registered names only.
  • Check spelling carefully.
  • Partical name searches work best for results. For example, if the female is CC's Black Magic, search for cc's black for better results.

Hip Clearance indicators:

  • If the sire or dam has clearances in the system, you will see the hip clearance and a green Hips OK message.
  • If hips are missing, you will see a red message such as No hip clearances in database.

For real litters to show up in public search: on the litter information page you must enter the location and at least one way to contact you (phone or email). If these are missing, the real litter will not appear in the Litter Search results.

If the dog is not edit locked, go to that dog's pedigree page and click Edit Parents.

You can then correct the sire or dam, or replace them with the correct parents.

Tip: If the dog is edit locked, you will need to contact HLP.

If you are the owner or agent of a dog and need to edit lock it: Step 1: Go to the dog's pedigree page and click Edit Dog. Step 2: Click the Request Edit Lock button (blue). Step 3: Fill out the form and click Submit.

Please Note: I review edit lock requests about once a week. It may take up to 7 days for your dog to be locked to your account.
What I do not edit lock:
  • Registration numbers used as dog names
  • Single-word dog names
  • Litter names (not individual dogs)
  • Dogs with missing sire and/or dam
