'74 NAFC-FC Ray's Rascal (Rascal) was the pick of the litter when Ray Goodrich purchased him from Mary Ann Foote. Rascal was always a family and house dog with the Goodrichs, as Ray said, ?He loved D.D. and daughter Janie, in fact, when he won his first double-header, he shared Janie?s sleeping bag for the whole weekend of the trial.?

When he was barely a year old, Rascal was hunted on pheasants and ducks as often as possible and he never missed a hunting season since. In spite of dire predictions to the contrary, all of this hunting didn?t seem to affect his lining ability.

After winning the 1969 National Derby Championship with Rascal, Ray turned his attention to teaching him to handle in preparation of his all-age career. ?It was unbelievably easy?, Ray said, ?Rascal is honest, eager to please and needs very little correction.? He won his first Qualifying stake and it was the only one he ever ran because he placed in the Amateur at the same trial.

Rascal was a finalist in his first National Amateur at 2 years, 8 months, completed his FC on his third birthday, and six weeks later was a finalist in the National held in St. Louis. His competitive career was a tribute to marking excellence and handling consistency.

Rascal accumulated 342 ? All-Age points ? 170 ? Open and 172 Amateur.
