To breed Chief's litter Larry Burrill put his qualified all-age female on the train and shipped her from Montana to Illinois to be bred to Freehaven Muscles. Wilbur T. Goode, a friend of Larry Burrill, obtained one of the puppies to train for field trials. Wilbur lived in Rapid City, SD, and named the dog using the Lakota name for the Black Hills, Paha Sapa. Larry remembers the dog as very tractable, good marker, and going whenever sent. Chief had two wins finishing his titles at three years of age. His eight Open wins qualified him for five Nationals 1958-1962 and was a finalist in 1959. He was qualified for four National Amateurs and a finalist in 1959 and 1960. Records show he had 99 Open points and 108 (with 27.5 Open points with amateur handler) Amateur points. Inducted into the Hall Of Fame in 1993.
The demand for breeding to Chief was high. He produced 19 titled dogs, 3 bench CH's and the remainder field titled. The two most successful breedings were to Ironwood Cherokee Chica and AFC Penny Girl. The Ironwood Cherokee Chica breedings produced NFC-NAFC Super Chief, Carr-Lab Penrod, Chief Black Feather, Paha Sapa Warpaint, Paha Sapa Pow-Wow and the Qualified All-Age Spring Farms Lucky. The breedings with Penny Girl produced NAFC-FC Rebel Chief of Heber, Attawan Pucka Sahib, Jilly Girl, and Trapper's Paha Cork
